Real Johnson-wilson Theories and Computations, Talk Notes

چکیده
As algebraic topologists, we study geometric objects via their algebraic invariants. Ideally, we want the invariants that we study to have some degree of computational universality with regards to our spaces–that is, we like to be able to compute our invariants on lots of different spaces with the same sorts of techniques. Perhaps the best example of such invariants are complex oriented cohomology theories. Definition 1.1. E is complex oriented if there exists a class u ∈ E2(CP∞) such that the following diagram commutes

On Real-oriented Johnson-Wilson cohomology
Answering a question of W. S. Wilson, I introduce a Z/2equivariant Atiyah-Real analogue of Johnson-Wilson cohomology theory BP 〈n〉, whose coefficient ring is the ≤ n-chromatic part of Landweber’s Real cobordism ring. AMS Classification 55P42, 55P91; 55T25
متن کاملReal - time simulations and the electroweak phase transition
Nonequilibrium quantum eld theory is important in various physical situations, such as domain formation during cosmological phase transitions and the properties of the electroweak transition in the early universe, or the QCD transition in heavy ion collisions. We concentrate in this talk on the SU(2)-Higgs model and the electroweak transition, which is relevant to theories of baryogenesis [1]. ...
متن کاملSome Useful Background for Talk on the Fast Johnson-Lindenstrauss Transform
This writeup includes very basic background material for the talk on the Fast Johnson Lindenstrauss Transform on May 28th, 2007 by the author at the Summer School on Algorithmic Data Analysis in Helsinki, Finland. The talk is about the results in [2], but will be based on a new more recent proof (together with Edo Liberty), using more modern tools, such as probability in Banach spaces and error...
متن کاملSurprising Areas in the Quest for Small Universal Devices
In this paper, we study a few points indicated in the talk which we presented at MFCSIT meeting in Cork. Our study concerns three main areas: Turing machines, cellular automata and hyperbolic cellular automata. The common thread is the quest for small universal devices. It leads from properties belonging to the classical domain up to results on super-Turing computations.
